BAHAWALPUR: Five children were killed while three others suffered injuries when the roof of a room of the house of Sajjad Bajwa collapsed on them at Mujahidabad near Adda Sikandri on Shujabad Road on Sunday.

According to Rescue 1122, the children were busy watching TV in the room when the roof caved in. The incident took place as the heavy luggage of the adjacent under-construction house was stored on the roof.

The deceased included Ajwa (7), Momina (4), Moosa (8), Hammad (6) and Raheem (4), while injured children are Ahmad (9), Hanzala (5), and Haroon (6).

Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has directed the officials to provide free treatment to injured family members.
