BAJAUR/LOWER DIR: Two teenage boys and a girl drowned in different incidents in Bajaur and Lower Dir districts on Saturday, locals and rescue officials said.
Two students drowned in a rainwater pond in Billot area of Mamond tehsil in Bajaur, residents and Rescue 1122 officials said.
The residents said the victims were on way home from school when they slipped and fell into the pond while passing by it.
Amjad Khan, in-charge of Rescue 1122 in Khar, told Dawn that a team of divers retrieved the boys from the pond in critical condition and shifted them to the district headquarters hospital.
However, he said the boys Ihsanullah, 16, and Attaullah, 15, were pronounced dead by doctors.
Meanwhile, a girl drowned in a flooded stream in Zaimdara area of Lower Dir on Saturday, locals and police said.
The victim was identified as Maryam, 15, a resident of Balu Khan village of Maidan. She was a student of 9th class.
According to police, she was on her way to school to take her biology paper in the annual board examinations when she drowned in the flooded stream.
Local people fished out her body from the stream at Zaimdara.
