MUZAFFARABAD: The Election Commission of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on Wednesday issued an amended schedule for election against eight reserved seats of the AJK Legislative Assembly – five of them for women and one each for technocrats, religious scholars and overseas Kashmiris.

According to the fresh schedule, the nomination papers for these seats would be received by the returning officer on July 29 from 9am to 10pm, followed by their scrutiny the same evening.

Appeals against acceptance or rejection of nomination papers could be filed in the commission on July 30 from 9am to 12noon which would be heard on the following day from 9am to 12noon and decisions would be announced the same day.

Candidates could withdraw their nominations on or before 12 noon on Aug 1 while polling would be held on Aug 2 in Block No 12 of Assembly Hall from 10am to 2:30pm

The Chief Election Commissioner had designated commission’s secretary Mohammad Ghazanfar Khan and deputy election commissioner Mhammad Ishfaq Khan as returning officer and polling officer, respectively, for this election.
