FAISALABAD: Sharing of a torture video on social media ultimately cost two men their lives when the victim, along with his four accomplices, allegedly gunned them down at Jaranwala, around a year after he was tortured publicly.

According to police, Rashid and Imtiaz had publicly humiliated and tortured Qasim over some issue around a year ago, made a footage of the whole episode and uploaded it on social media.

The footage showed Qasim being dragged in a street and beaten up and abused by two men (Rashid and Imtiaz) in front of locals.

On the complaint of Qasim, a case had been registered against his tormentors, who were arrested, but were later released on bail.

On Friday, Qasim, along with his four accomplices -- Ali Shahid, Samar Abbas, Qamar Abbas and Yasir -- opened fire on Rashid and Imtiaz in a bazaar on Lahore Road. As a result, Imtiaz died on the spot, while Rahid succumbed to his wounds in hospital on Saturday.

Jaranwala city police registered a double-murder case on the complaint of Shehzad, brother of deceased Rashid, against the five suspects.

In the FIR, Shehzad mentioned an old enmity as motive behind the killings. Police said raids were being conducted to arrest the suspects.
