HYDERABAD: The first monsoon rainfall lashed several districts of the interior of Sindh on Monday providing relief to people from hot weather.

In Hyderabad city, rain started at around 5am. Drizzle continued intermittently but at around 9.30am a spell of heavy rain lashed the city for around 20 minutes.

Rainwater accumulated on all main roads and low-lying areas. An electricity breakdown hit many parts of the city as soon as it started raining. The outage lasted around 16 hours in many localities and caused suspension of water supply. Drainage and sewage disposal process was also badly affected.

The local Met office recorded 40mm of rain in the city and 31mm in the airport area.

Heavy rain and power breakdown also hit Tando Allahyar. Rain lashed Matiari during Sunday night and on Monday. Heavy rain was also reported from Tando Mohammad Khan.

MIRPURKHAS: Rainfall with strong winds hit the city and other towns of the district on Monday.

MITHI: Most parts of Tharparkar district, from Kaloi to Kasbo and Kanito to Karoonjhar hills, received moderate to heavy showers from late Sunday night to Monday morning.

Rainwater accumulated on the main roads and streets, mainly low-lying areas and katchi abadis.

Rainfall was also reported from Mirwah Gorchani, Digri, Jhudo, Tando Jan Mohammad, Naokot, Kot Ghulam Mohammad, Sindhri, Hingorno, Phuladyyoon and Khaan towns.

DADU: Different parts of Jamshoro district received heavy rains on Monday.

Heavy downpour coupled with windstorm hit Thana Bula Khan, Thana Ahmed Khan, Karchat, Mole, Kotri, Jamshoro, Khanoth and Manjhand.

Low-lying areas of Jamshoro and Kotri city were inundated. Electric supply remained suspended for several hours in various parts of the district.

BADIN: Scattered moderate spells of rain were reported from different areas of this district on Monday. Dusty winds kept blowing on Sunday night for a few hours before it rained on Monday morning.
