ISLAMABAD, Jan 23: The CBR has released Rs161.220 million refund during the last 15 months.

An official announcement, issued on Wednesday, said that on the directive of FTO, the CBR has paid out Rs161.220 million refund to the general taxpayers, small and large size private and public sector organization.

The FTO during 15 months of its existence registered as many as 1,800 complaints for investigation. Out of which, 1450 complaints have been investigated to diagnose, redress and rectify the injustices done, the announcement added.

The refund amounts ranging from Rs220 to Rs77.111 million, while in some cases refund was made even before the reply asked for from the CBR. Among the decided cases, some ones were pending with the CBR for 10 to 12 years.

Such complaints included large number of cases pertaining to refund of amounts deposited or collected from the taxpayers in excess of their liabilities assessed on account of income tax, sales tax and customs.
