Published October 25, 2005

LAHORE, Oct 24: The Indian Hockey Confederation (IHC), (formerly Indian Hockey Federation) has not agreed to a suggestion made by the International Hockey Federation (FIH) to organize a match to raise funds for earthquake relief fund on Dec 8 on the eve of the Champions Trophy to be held in Chennai from Dec 10 to 18.

The IHC had proposed that the match be played after the end of the six-nation Champions Trophy and proposed Dec 20 as the new date.

The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) had recommended to the IHC to hold a match for the victims on Nov 20 but on the intervention of the FIH which wanted to play a role suggested that the match be organized at the time of the Champions Trophy.

A decision to decide the dates will be finalized in next couple of days.

According to the initial format, a joint team of Pakistani and Indian players will play against a team to be formed by four remaining countries of the Champions Trophy.
