KARACHI, Jan 23: Minister of state and chairman Export Promotion, Bureau Tariq Ikram has assured rice exporters that government is actively considering doing away with quality related market price (QRMP) and double pre-shipment inspection (DPSI).
In a meeting with rice exporters held on Tuesday, and led by Rice Exporters’ Association of Pakistan (REAP) chairman Abdul Rahim Janoo, the EPB chief also took note of other problems confronting rice exporters.
The EPB chairman urged the REAP members to come forward and form groups and benefit from the warehouse scheme announced by the EPB.
He said the EPB would pay one year rent and encourage exporters to ship their goods and store them in foreign markets to immediately meet any demand that may arise.
REAP member Mehmood Ghaffar emphasised on the system of collateral management which would solve the warehousing problems of the shippers.
