OKARA: Of the 10 members of a family buried alive in a roof collapse incident here on Monday, eight were killed at Bangla Gogera, some 20km from the city.
The deceased include four children and four women.
Rescue 1122 and police along with locals retrieved the bodies and injured from the debris and provided first aid at the Gogra Rural Heath Centre.
It is said a heavy dust storm caused the roof collapse.
TOBA TEK SINGH: A young farmer was killed when lightning struck him.
Rescue 1122 reported that Nasir Mushtaq was irrigating crops in Chak 482-JB on Toba-Akalwala Road when during light rain and windstorm lightning fell on him.
Meanwhile, the windstorm rooted out scores of trees and also caused felling of mango fruit in orchards.
The windstorm also resulted in the breaking of electricity wires and poles due to which power supply to various areas of city and surroundings was suspended.
SAHIWAL: Strong winds, thunderstorm and lightning also hit Sahiwal city.
Rescue sources said around 25 emergency calls were being addressed. Of them, 10 were related to fire incidents because of lightning and short circuit while the remaining were about the collapse of walls, building damage and trees falling.
