MUZAFFARABAD, Jan 22: An alliance of nine student organizations in Azad Kashmir has called upon the government and the education department to resolve the issues of the student community.
Speaking at a news conference here on Sunday, leaders of the United Students Front (USF) said students were facing a number of problems throughout the AJK due to alleged inaction and indifference of the government.
The USF comprises National Students Federation, People’s Students Federation, Students Liberation Front, Kashmir Students Freedom Movement, Kashmir National Students Organization, People’s Students Organization, Imamia Students Organization, Northern Areas Students Association and Anjaman Tulaba-i-Islam. The MSF and IJT are the only organizations that have not joined the alliance.
They said their demands were “restoration of student unions, end to irregular and undue raise in tuition fees, complete abolition of self-finance scheme, establishment of medical college in AJK, inclusion of Kashmir studies in curriculum, launching of Kashmiri and other departments in the AJK University and end to class-based educational system.”
They called upon the government and the education department to pay attention to their issues and take concrete steps to solve them.
They warned that they would be forced to launch an agitation movement if their demands were not accepted.
