SWAT: Swat deputy commissioner Junaid Khan has said that over 1,000 vehicles with tourists on board were barred from entering the valley on Eidul Fitr.

He said the administration had set up 20 checkposts in all the seven tehsils of the district to stop and return the vehicles back to their destinations.

“These checkpoints were established at all the entry points of the district as well as the entry points of famous tourist resorts, and only the locals were allowed in,” he said in a statement.

Junaid Khan said his administration had also closed all hotels and restaurants as per the directives of the National Command and Operation Centre.
