LAHORE: Rain, wind and thunderstorm on Wednesday further delayed the severity of summer as it brought the mercury down to 28 degrees Celsius.
The spell is expected to last two more days, and it may keep raining with intervals till Friday.
According to the meteorological officials, though it rained only two millimetres during the day and second spell was continuing till the filing of this report, but strong winds blowing at 40 knots per hour and cloud cover kept the city weather pleasant.
A Met official said the pattern of rain, wind and thunderstorm, even hailstorm, would continue for the next 72 hours.
On Wednesday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 34 degrees Celsius and it dropped by six degrees in the afternoon.
The air quality index of Lahore also improved to 155, which is still considered unhealthy, specially for sensitive group, but much better than usual reading of well over 250 mark.
According to the Met official, Punjab will be receiving normal or below normal rains and it may not hit wheat harvesting, whatever is left of it. It will, however, delay the process. The farmers may take precautionary measures that they deem appropriate, but rain will not damage any crop.
