LAHORE: Punjab Higher Education Department (HED) Deputy Secretary (Universities) Sheikh Tanzeelur Rehman died of coronavirus on Wednesday.

Mr Rehman was posted to HED in May 2019 where he served for two years and tested positive in July 2020.

He recovered after a month and joined the office. He was again infected with the virus in February 2021 and was admitted to Mayo Hospital in March.

Later, he was shifted to Services Hospital and put on a ventilator where he breathed his last on Wednesday. He will be buried in a local graveyard in Lahore.

He belonged to Lahore and left behind two daughters and a widow to mourn. He was a federal government employee and was serving in Punjab on deputation as deputy secretary.
