THE third wave of Covid is in full swing in Pakistan. If things are not brought under control, they might become as bad as they are in India where the Covid situation has completely gone out of control.

The government needs to identify the Covid hotspots and ensure complete compliance with the standard operating procedures (SOPs). With Eidul Azha about two months away, there is every likelihood that the cattle markets will soon be crowded. The government needs to take pre-emptive measures right after the Eidul Fitr holidays, and close down the cattle markets till the Covid situation improves.
