We know all we crave for is a good cup of coffee to kickstart our day and minimise the struggles of getting out of bed.

From improving our physical performance (especially at work!) to improving metabolism with that strong caffeine kick and keeping us focused and alert all day long, coffee has walked quite some miles to reserve the special place it has in our hearts today.

If only we could pour coffee all over our lives to make it better! Well, in a way you can, starting from your hair and skin.

Did you know there's a lot more to those little magical beans than just the capability of waking us up in the morning?

Instead of throwing away coffee grounds, you can use it to make DIY masks** that will take no time at all, and keep you from having to visit the salon in these difficult times.

Let's discuss how:

De-puff your face with this three-ingredient mask

Heavy on antioxidants and beneficial nutrients, coffee is one beverage that wakes us up in more ways than one.

Both coffee and honey contain antioxidants, and when applied to the face, they can tighten skin and make you appear - well - cuter!

When mixed with milk, the mask offers a soothing effect, reducing dark circles, redness, and inflammation.

We think this mask would be a life-saver after all those nights we've spent staying up till Sehri during Ramazan.

Ingredients

1/4 cup ground coffee beans

1 tsp organic honey

1 tbsp milk

Directions

Mix the coffee, milk and honey in a small bowl.

Stir the mixture to create a paste, then apply a thin layer on your face.

Let dry for 20 minutes.

Wash off with warm water, gently pat dry, and apply moisturiser.

Get stronger, shinier hair at home

We all want to have good hair days where we don’t have to worry about frizz or breakage.

This coffee mask will do wonders for your hair, as coffee when applied topically is known to restore hair follicles, helping it regrow.

On the other hand, castor oil will restore shine, and coconut oil will reduce frizz and make them stronger, while the yogurt will take care of dandruff and other scalp problems.

Ingredients

1 tbsp plain coffee powder

1 tsp coconut oil

2 tbsp yogurt

1 tsp castor oil

Directions

Mix the oils into a bowl and add coffee powder to make a smooth paste.

Add in the yogurt and stir.

Part your hair and apply the mixture to scalp, gradually working your way to the ends of the hair.

Massage gently for a few minutes and leave the mask in for around 30 minutes.

Rinse off with shampoo, and voila!

Use this mask once a week.

Deep clean your locks with this mask

Spending too much time outdoors can translate straight into greasy, oily hair.

Therefore, you need a little extra something to wash out excess oil and build-up.

Raw and organic apple cider vinegar or green tea may help reduce build-up and rid hair of grease caused by too much exposure to chemical-laden products.

Add in some yogurt and you're ready to finger-comb hydrated, silky and smooth hair all day long.

Ingredients

1/4 cup of plain yogurt

1/2 tsp of apple cider vinegar or 1 tbsp of green tea

1 tsp ground coffee powder

Directions

Add in all the ingredients to make a paste.

Apply the mask all over hair, focusing on the scalp and ends.

Massage in circular motion for up to 3 minutes.

Rinse with cold water to enjoy clean, lustrous hair.

Steer clear of zits with this ultra fragrant skin pack

Skin problems can be frustrating for a lot of people.

When mixed together, coconut oil and coffee can deep-clean the skin by removing dead skin cells, giving you clear and healthy-looking skin.

1 tbsp coffee powder

1/2 tbsp coconut oil

1/4 teaspoon cinnamon powder

Directions

Mix all the ingredients in a bowl and stir well to make a smooth paste.
