RAWALPINDI: An under-trial prisoner, who had been shifted to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital after his health deteriorated due to illness, died on Monday.
According to jail authorities, Ghulam Sarwar Husain Shah had been languishing in jail since March 22, 2021 for his alleged involvement in two different cases registered at Taxila police station.
The authorities said the prisoner was shifted to the jail hospital after he complained about shortness of breath and tachycardia.
He was given first aid however, his condition could not be managed after which he was emergently shifted to DHQ hospital where he passed away.
Later, jail authorities requested the judicial magistrate to conduct a judicial inquest into the death of the UTP.
The judicial magistrate ordered police to hand over the body of the deceased to his legal heirs after completion of legal formalities.
