NAUSHAHRO FEROZE Jan 22: Drugs are being sold without any hurdle throughout the district.
Heroin, charas, opium, and other drugs are being sold openly in various localities of Naushahro Feroze, Kandiaro, Moro, and Bahria among other places under the eyes of the authorities concerned.
Some of the citizens the other day went to the office of the Excise and Taxation, Naushahro Feroze, to inform the official there that heroin was being openly sold by drug traffickers near the Shah Latif Chowk, but he could not be contacted.
When one of the citizens tried to contact the circle in charge excise inspector, the latter gave lame excuses saying that he was busy with other things, and added that he had neither a vehicle nor an excise constable.
When this correspondent contacted the circle in charge excise inspector, Wajid Soomro, he said that there were about 52 excise constables in the district out of which 28 were posted in Taxation and the remaining 24 in Excise.
He said that out of the 24 constables, eight were posted at Kandiaro, eight at Moro, six at the special circle, and two at the Excise and Taxation Office, and added that his circle was working without any constable.
He said that on requesting several times three constables were transferred in his circle, but they were yet to resume their duties.
A survey conducted by this correspondent revealed that drugs including heroin were being sold in various places throughout the district.
In Naushahro Feroze, drugs were being sold at the Shah Latif Chowk, Memon Mohalla, Omrani Mohalla, and Kaka Shah Mohalla.
In Kandiaro, drugs were being sold at the Ayub Mohalla, Shaikh Mohalla, and Shahbaz Mohalla.
In Moro town, drugs were being sold at the Pir Buldrazi Mohalla, Pir Rehmatullah Mohalla, Jatoi Colony, Gachero Road, Fruit Mandi, and Bandhi Road.
The citizens and NGOs have condemned the trafficking of drugs. They have demanded the governor Sindh and the authorities concerned to stop the menace of drugs as soon as possible.
