“I AM shocked to read in the papers that evictions are being carried on under orders from the Congress Government in Assam in the villages of Bagpuri, Kharpuri, Hatipuri and Moamal in Mangaldai Sub-division of Assam,” said Nawabzada Liaquat Ali Khan… .

“Last year in May” the Nawabzada continued, “I accompanied by … the then Ministers of Assam visited these villages and found them a large, thickly inhabited locality of about 1,200 families with flourishing paddy fields, cultivated by the villagers.

“…It is brutal and barbarous to evict these poor villagers who had spent their time and energy to build their house by reclamation of waste land and who had grown food crop there to maintain themselves and their families, converted jungles into productive paddy fields, to destroy their houses, devastate their paddy fields, to destroy their houses and throw them into the wilderness… . This is how the Congress Government in Assam ‘serves’ the poor when they happen to be Muslims. Cruelty and inhumanity have exceeded all bounds in the Congress tyranny over the Muslim immigrants in Assam.”
