LAKKI MARWAT: The University of Lakki Marwat has floated tenders for construction of the administration and academic blocks.

Briefing the participants of a pre-bidding meeting at the university’s conference hall in Lakki city on Monday, the varsity’s director works Mohammad Shoaib Sabeel said the tenders had been floated after consultation with Nespak.

He said both the blocks would be completed at a cost of Rs400 million under the package-1. He added building roads, hostels and libraries had been included in the next packages.

Mr Sabeel said the varsity’s works department with the help of a consultancy firm would ensure quality construction work.

He said the local youths belonging to poor families won’t have to go to Peshawar and Islamabad to get higher education there as they would now have an international standard university in their own area.

ARRESTED: The police on Monday claimed to have arrested a man involved in an honour killing incident and shifted him to the Saddar police station of Bannu.

The officials said Waqas had killed his wife and a 22-year-old man in his house on May 1.They said a police party had recovered the bodies from a house in Kotka Jumma Khan area.

The police arrested the killer during a raid, the officials said.

ELECTED: The arms and ammunition dealers’ association, Bannu chapter, elected the office-bearers unopposed at a meeting on Monday.

Later, the newly-elected office-bearers unanimously elected Abdul Wahab Khan president and Asim Khan Advocate general secretary of the association.

Haji Hamid Khan was elected unopposed senior vice president, Sirajuddin vice president, Aslam Khan Wazir joint secretary, Naimatullah Khan finance secretary and Pirzada Khan Wazir press secretary.
