MANSEHRA: The coronavirus vaccination centre established at King Abdullah Teaching Hospital (Kath) witnessed great rush of people as compared to other such centres providing vaccinating services across Hazara division.

“It would be better if government sends teams door-to-door to ensure vaccination of the people of 50 years of age and above,” a man standing in the queue at Kath told journalists on Monday.

The men and women were lined up at separate vaccination centres established at the outpatient department of the health facility and some were in brawl with each other for their early turn.

“The people of Mansehra have widely been receiving first and second doses of Covid-19 vaccine as compared to rest of Hazara division. In order to meet the shortage, we have demanded extra consignments through the local MPA,” Dr Shahzad Ali Khan, the medical superintendent of Kath, told reporters.

He said that people there were more sensitive and aware about lethal consequences of Covid-19.

He said that they were visiting the vaccination centres in a record number.

He said that in order to meet shortage of the required vaccine, they got involved local MPA Babar Saleem Swati and obtained extra doses of the vaccine.

“We have also set up a vaccination point for the people with disabilities and elderly people,” said Dr Shahzad.

He said that basically any vaccine prepared anywhere in the world for Covid-19 protected lungs and created anti-bodies.

“I would advise elderly people to get them registered with the health department and get vaccinated as both kinds of Chinese vaccines being administered in the country having no side effects,” he said.
