RAWALPINDI: A young man died in a hit-and-run accident in Naseerabad area whereas a Rescue 1122 official allegedly committed suicide in his house in Gulraiz colony area on Sunday, police said.

Adil Masih, a resident of Naseerabad was on the way to his workplace when he was hit by an unidentified vehicle near Koh-i-Noor mills, Peshawar Road.

Shahid Iqbal, a close relative of the victim complained to police that sometime after his nephew left his house to go to work, he received a phone call from a passer-by informing him that his nephew was injured critically after being hit by an unknown vehicle.

He said he rushed to the scene and found his nephew Adil being taken to the hospital in a rickshaw. Upon reaching the District Headquarters (DHQ) hospital Adil died.

Meanwhile, Malik Shoaib, 35, who was associated with emergency services 1122 as a driver allegedly, committed suicide by hanging himself with a wire in his house in Gulraiz Colony.

Police said the victim’s family found him hanging in his room and informed police.

The father of the victim complained to police that his son had been in distress due to family problems which drove him to suicide.

The body was handed over to his family by the police after postmortem.
