PESHAWAR, Oct 20: The Pakistan Army has set up 20 tent villages in the earthquake-hit areas of the NWFP. The Inter-Services Public Relations said the villages had been set up in Kashtra, Jabori, Dadar, Kund, Sacha Kalan, Munda Ghucha, Nawazabad, Jabar, Deoli, Batgram, Shamlai, Balakot, Basian, Hassa, Shawal, Bahli, Bhanphhora, Garlat, Qadarabad and Bhajur.

It said the villages would be extended to accommodate survivors of the earthquake and troops had been deployed for security.

The army signals corps with the assistance of the Pakistan Telecommunication Company had restored 15 exchanges in Hazara region, while the remaining four would be restored soon, it said. It said 16 sorties of Chinook, Black Hawk and MI-17 helicopters were flown from Chaklala Air Base to the affected areas in the province.

Relief goods, including 448 tents, 235 blankets and food items were airlifted, it said, adding that supply also continued by road.
