Irrigation patwari nabbed

TOBA TEK SINGH, Jan 22: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) on Tuesday claimed to have arrested an irrigation department patwari taking bribe from a farmer.

Akhtar Ali had reportedly demanded gratification from Muhammad Saleem of Chak 367-JB for changing outlet of water course.

During the raid, ACE circle officer and judicial magistrate recovered the marked currency notes from him.

He was sent behind the bars.

SELECTION: Independent members of the proposed district Public Safety Commission (PSC) will be selected from those who will send applications to the district selection panel headed by the local district and sessions judge.

In a meeting chaired by district and sessions Judge Muhammad Akram Zaki, it was decided the applications would be received by superintendent of the sessions court till Jan 30.

Bankrupt, defaulters, terminated or compulsorily retired from service and those who have been punished by a court will not be eligible to apply.
