RAWALPINDI: The police along with officials from law enforcement agencies on Thursday continued taking action against Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) and rounded up more than 50 of its members in the district, a police spokesman said.

Chief of Pakistan Youth Parliament Shaheer Sialvi, who was held during a raid at his house and booked under terrorism charges, is one of them.

In a statement, City Police Officer (CPO) Mohammad Ahsan Younas said police are fully prepared to maintain law and order in the district. He said no one would be allowed to cause anarchy and challenge the writ of state while all steps are being taken to ensure safety of citizens.

Earlier, Mr Younas along with SSP Investigation Mohammad Faisal Kamran, SSP Operations Shoaib Mehmood and other divisional SPs paid a visit to various parts of the city to review security arrangements and deployment of personnel.

Mr Younas appreciated the efforts of police officers on security duty in the city.

Later on, he along with other officials had Iftaar in Liaquat Bagh.

Meanwhile, scores of rangers have also been deputed in many areas of the city to maintain law and order.
