A senior police officer confirmed that the car, bearing registration number ACD-569, had been hijacked in Gulshan-i-Iqbal. However, it had not yet been ascertained whether the hijackers were policemen. “We are sure that they were wearing police uniform to deceive the occupant of the car,” he claimed.

He said police had been alerted and efforts were being made to arrest the car hijackers.

Besides this, bandits took away 23 vehicles — 10 cars and 13 motorcycles — in the city on Tuesday, the police said.

Six cars were hijacked. Four others were stolen. Most of them were taken away in districts East and South.
