GUJAR KHAN: Distribution of cash to those in need under the Ehsas Kafalat Programme began on Monday in Gujar Khan.

Two centres have been established at Government Associate Boys College Daultala and Government Boys Higher Secondary School Gujar Khan to distribute the cash ahead of Ramazan. An amount of Rs3,236,500 was distributed among people.

According to details however, some people who showed up at these centres had to return empty handed after waiting for hours. Those who visited Government Boys Higher Secondary School said that they were not allowed to enter the school and had to stand outside in crowds.

Senior citizen, Zahida Bibi said she came from a far flung village to get the relief money but she could not receive it as her fingerprints did not match with the biometric device due to some technical failure.

Talking to Dawn, Mr Irfan, agent of the facility at the Government Associate Boys College Daultala said there was a connectivity issue with the biometric devices. He added that the names of people whose fingerprints were not identified have been referred to the local Nadra office for verification and attestation of their data.
