KASUR: Khudian police registered a third case on the seminary land issue on Thursday while social circles fear that sectarian elements can fan the clash further.

The issue of the police raid on a seminary in Khudian town to foil a bid to grab the seminary and retaliation of the alleged grabbers is getting grave as both sides have stuck to their guns. Three cases have been lodged in the incident so far. The third case has been registered against police.

On April 3, 16 suspects, including three women. broke locks of the seminary and tried to occupy the building. Police lodged a case against them for allegedly attempting to grab the seminary and attacking police.

The alleged grabbers were headed by Khadija Bibi, the wife of Akram, who also claimed that the seminary land was donated by a man on behalf of her late father, Muhammad Ishaq.

On April 4, Khudian police lodged a criminal case against Sub-Inspector Jamil Khan for allegedly manhandling a woman. The case was lodged after a video went viral on social media showing the SI torturing a woman.

Five days after the incident, Khudian police lodged another criminal case against 13 suspects, including eight police officials, on the complaint of Arsh Isma, who claimed that the suspects had manhandled her at the seminary where she and others were present.

District Police Officer Imran Kishwar said that the matter would be dealt with in accordance with law.
