A LAWYERS’ body is believed to have written to the government that all lawyers should be exempted from payment of toll tax across the country. May we, the lesser lot, know the rationale behind such a desire on the part of the legal fraternity?

Except for the Quaid-i-Azam and a few others who can be counted on finger tips, the majority of lawyers happen to be a self-serving lot. They are involved in fleecing and harassment of litigants. They manipulate law in ways that known criminals are proved innocent and victims are sent to the gallows.

They harass doctors, policemen and even judges, and have frequently been found involved in acts of hooliganism, and are still supposed to be the custodians of law. Is not that privilege enough for them?
