THE attitude of the federal government towards the Sindh government and the people is absolutely mindboggling. The whole country is benefitting from Sindh’s indigenous resources, such as oil and gas, but its people are being deprived of their due rights by denying them their share in revenues and the said resources.

Despite producing 2,600MMCFD of natural gas and several barrels of oil daily, there are extended power and gas outages in Sindh, particularly in Karachi. Sindh is also being deprived of the federal government’s share for development projects in Karachi and other parts of the province.

There is an acute shortage of passport and Nadra regional and district level offices. The federal government had announced a huge Karachi development package last year, but not a single penny has been released so far.

Although the federal government makes tall claims of promoting tourism in the region, it is neglecting Sindh’s beautiful tourist attractions. The electronic media, too, only focuses on political rifts while completely neglecting the potential of tourism in the province.

It is time to address the issues that the people of the province face and promote tourism in the region by investing in tourist attractions.
