KARACHI, Oct 15: Karachi’s Nazim-elect, Syed Mustafa Kamal, has said that his priority would be to help improve the lot of the common man in the metropolis. “I will serve the Karachiites without any discrimination and will try my best to ensure that the common man feels a difference in his life,” he said on Saturday.
He said that his immediate focus, after taking oath of office, would be on provision of drinking water, sewerage, health, education, traffic and sanitation facilities.
He said that efforts would be made to revamp as well as upgrade the system of civic facilities.
Management tools would be applied in order to help bring about the required improvement in the system.
Meanwhile, the arrangements for the oath-taking ceremony of nazim-elect of Karachi, Syed Mustafa Kamal, were reviewed at a meeting held under the chairmanship of DCO and Caretaker Fazalur Rehman on Saturday.
Mr Kamal will take oath on Oct 17 at 3.30pm at Bara Dari of Bagh-i-Jinnah. District Returning Officer and District and Sessions Judge Agha Rafiq Ahmed will administer the oath.
The oath-taking ceremony of city nazim-elect will be attended by elected town nazims, assembly members, diplomats, senior officials of provincial city district governments and prominent citizens.
Nazims-elect of towns will also take oath of office the same day at 10am in their respective towns.
Various committees have been formed in connection with the arrangements for the oath-taking ceremony.
DO Coordination Mukarram Sultan Bukhari will act as coordinating officer while the caretaker Karachi will personally supervise the arrangements.
