Hat trick by Arif

LAHORE, Jan 21: Arif Yasir slammed the first hat trick of the contest to help Faisalabad rout Muzaffargarh 5-1 in the Punjab under-16 inter-district hockey tournament Monday.

For Muzaffargarh, Sajid Iqbal got the solitary goal in the 54th minute.

Kasur came from behind to beat Jhang 5-3. Jhang took 2-0 lead when Aasim Cheema netted two goals in the 13th and the 23rd minutes. But Kasur staged a brilliant come back scoring five goals in a row.  

Ihsanullah and captain Asif Raza scored two goals each in the 33rd, 53rd and 37th and 51st minutes, while Imran Mirza scored in the 48th minute. Akhlaq Ahmad got the third goal for Jhang in the 55th minute.

In a keenly-contested match, Khushab struggled against Bahawalpur before bowing down 3-2.

From the winning side, Wasif (6th), Aamir Ismail (9th minute) and Shahid Usman (13th minute) were the scorers.

Khushab retaliated in the second half, sounding the board twice through Wasim Hyder (34th, 42nd minutes).

Defending champions Lahore secured another victory after beating Rawalpindi 2-0. Moazam converted a penalty corner in the 11th minute, while Tariq Mehmood doubled the lead in the 51st minute.

Jhelum registered a facile 4-0 win over Attock.

Yasir banged home in the 32nd and 51st minutes. Javed and Shahzad got one goal apiece in the 8th and 24th minutes.  

Sheikhupura thrashed Gujranwala 6-0.

Ibrar Husain scored goals in the 20th and the 43rd minutes, Mohammad Imran (27th minute), Qamar-ul-Islam  (25th minute), Saeed Siddiqi (46th minute), Waqar Ahmad (59th) were the other scorers.

Shahbaz and Waqas scored one goal each in the 17th and 42nd minutes to give Narowal 2-0 win over Pakpattan.

Four goals from Malik Yasir gave Mandi Bahauddin a thumping 5-0 victory over Rajanpur.

Yasir struck in the 12th, 28th, 43rd and 45th minutes. Fakhar scored in the 33rd minute.

Sargodha mauled Lodhran 7-0. Adeel Akram banged home in the 45th, 53rd and 57th minutes. Naseer Ahmed found the net in the 14th and 52nd minutes, while Aamir Saeed (9th minute) and Mohammad Akram (2nd minute) got one goal each.

The match between Dera Ghazi Khan and Mianwali ended in a goalless draw.
