CHARSADDA, Jan 21: Bacha Khan stood like a mountain against each and every dictator of the country and never compromised on the rights of people, said Begum Nasim Wali Khan, provincial president of the ANP in her address at a public meeting at Ghazi Gul Baba here on Monday, held in connection with the 14th death anniversary of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan.
She said Bacha Khan struggled for the whole life for the emancipation of his people and preached peace. Being successor to the Khadai Khidmatgar Movement, the ANP was
not afraid of jail but in some policies, the present government was implementing the agenda of the ANP and that was why our party supported the government in those policies.
She said we were asking for peace in Afghanistan and were opposing foreign interference in that country and were of the view that the Afghan must be left alone to decide their internal problems through the convening of Loya Jirga. She said today the whole world and also the Pervez Musharraf government was supporting our stand in Afghanistan. She alleged that Osama bin Laden and Taliban were the product of US and two previous governments of Pakistan.
She said when I realized after Sept 11 attacks that Afghanistan and Pakhtoons would be punished once again by a super power I brought Khan Abdul Wali Khan to Peshawar despite his illness. There Wali Khan addressed a Press conference advising Pakhtoons to stay way from the fighting in Afghanistan as it was not Jihad but a war of foreign interests.
She said at that time many people questioned his advice but in a period of less than one month the whole world saw that the fighting in that country was not Jihad.
Earlier, Bashir Bilour, Farid Toofan and other ANP leaders in their speeches paid tribute to Bacha Khan for the emancipation of Pakhtoon and vowed to continue his mission.
