SHANGLA: The teachers of government school recruited through National Testing Service in 2020 have demanded of the education department to pay their five-month salary deducted from them due to Covid-19.

The demand was made during a meeting of Shangla Teachers Association held at district headquarters Alpuri here on Monday. Attended by teachers of all tehsils of the district, the meeting was presided over by Sultan Sikandar.

On the occasion the NTS recruited teachers appointed on March17, 2020, said that their salaries were supposed to be paid from March onwards but they received salaries from August and the five months salaries were deducted due to Covid-19 pandemic.

They said that they performed their duty like other teachers during the pandemic and deduction of their salaries was injustice with them.

Sultan Sikandar said on the occasion that they would make their efforts to get release the salaries of the NTS recruited teachers.

The participants of the meetings also discussed problems of teachers in different areas of the district. Islam Yousafzai and Afzal Khamosh assured the teachers that their problems would be addressed soon.

A committee was also formed on the occasion with Sultan Sikandar as its head to meet officials of education department to resolve the problems of teachers.

Other members of the committee include Mohammad Nawaz, Sajad Ali, Adil Shah, Fazal Wahab, Afzal Khamosh, Wahid Murad, Inayatullah Rafiq and Ahmed Khan.

Meanwhile, police on Monday arrested a man wanted in robbery cases in Kuz Kana area when he was trying to flee in a Burka.

A statement said that on a tip-off, Karora police station officials stopped a car and found the wanted man wearing a Burqa. He was arrested on the spot.

The arrested man identified as Hazrat Ali was shifted to Karora police station.

The statement said that Hazrat Ali was wanted in different cases of robbery.
