LAHORE: Mohammad Abid earned a double crown in the Gobi’s Paints Punjab Open Tennis Championship which concluded here at the PLTA Courts on Saturday.

Abid overcame seasoned campaigner Heera Ashiq 6-7, 6-4, 10-4 in the men’s singles final before heaping more misery on Heera in the men’s doubles final.

Pairing with Talha Waheed, Abid won his second title of the day as they beat Heera and Ahmed Babar 6-4, 4-6, 6-1.

Farman Shakeel stunned top seed Faizan Fayyaz 6-3, 5-7, 11-9 in the boys’ under-18 final.

Asad Zaman overcame a spirited Haniya Minhas 6-2, 5-7, 10-5 in the boys and girls under-14 final with Haniya rebounding from that loss to beat Ameer Mazari 4-0, 4-2 in the boys and girls under-12 final.

The under-10 final saw Abdur Rehman Sohail overwhelm his younger sister Hajra Sohail 6-0.
