PESHAWAR/BAJAUR: Former provincial minister Iftikhar Mohmand has expressed his reservations about the distribution of Senate tickets by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf and demanded of Prime Minister Imran Khan to review the parliamentary board’s decision.
Speaking at a press conference at Peshawar Press Club on Sunday, he said he had worked for strengthening of the party across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, but the leadership ignored him in allotment of Senate tickets.
Accompanied by his area people, Mr Mohmand said he had close friendship with Imran Khan who had promised to award him the Senate ticket, but he did not fulfil his commitment.
He claimed that the entire Mohmand tribe always extended full support to Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf candidates and it had still been working for strengthening of the party in various constituencies.
He complained that the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf parliamentary board did not consider his application and said the party decision had caused serious unrest among Mohmand tribe.
Mr Mohmand said he possessed video recording as evidence that Imran Khan had promised to issue him the Senate ticket.
“I appeal to the party leadership to consider my application for the Senate ticket,” he added.
In Bajaur, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leaders and workers from several tribal districts on Sunday urged the central leadership to award the party ticket to Dr Bashir Khan for the Senate elections from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Talking to mediapersons here, the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leaders, including Mamber Khan and Dr Khalilur Rahman from Bajaur, Fakhar Alam and Nisar Khan from Mohmand, Usman Khan from Orakzai, Roidad Khan from North Waziristan, Afsar Khan from South Waziristan and several other activists demanded the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf central and provincial leaderships and Prime Minister Imran Khan to nominate Dr Bashir Khan for the Senate elections from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
