KARACHI, Oct 11: The Sindh Health Department has constituted a special medical board to carry out the medical examination of Dr Hasnain Siddiqi, who was forcibly admitted to a local psychiatry hospital by his wife and wards to get him declared a lunatic so as to grab his property.

Sindh Home Minister Rauf Siddiqui had taken strict notice of the matter and had directed the TPO Saddar to hold an inquiry. A letter was also written to Health Minister Shabbir Ahmed Qaimkhani to constitute a special medical board.

Acting on the home minister’s letter, the Health Department has setup a board to be headed by DMC Principal Prof Salahuddin Afsar and Dr Sohrab Anwar Kaleem as its secretary/convenor. According to the home minister, the board will sit on Oct 20.

He said that, in the light of the board’s verdict, legal action would be taken against all those involved in the conspiracy of getting Dr Hasnain Siddiqi forcibly declared a lunatic.—APP
