RAHIM YAR KHAN: The New General Bus Stand (NGBS) was inaugurated in the city on Saturday.

RYK Deputy Commissioner Ali Shehzad with the local MPA and other Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leaders inaugurated the terminal. Speaking on the occasion, the DC said more funds would be spent on completing more public interest projects in the city.

RYK Regional Transport Authority Secretary Riyasat Ali said the NGBS was established at nine acres of land along Bypass Road near Adam Sahaba Canal with an amount of Rs200m. He said it would cater to more than 500 passengers and two dozen buses. It had facilities of waiting room, cafeteria, mosque and security monitoring, he added.

According to sources, the construction work on the project remained suspended for long time due to lack of funds. On the request of the district administration, the Punjab government released funds for it.

The new bus stand is equipped with the latest basic facilities not only for the passengers but also for the transport owners.
