KARACHI: A function of Milad for women was organised at the Bilawal House on Sunday, marking the beginning of the events for the marriage ceremony of Bakhtawar Bhutto-Zardari, planned for January 29, said a statement issued here on Sunday.

It said the function was attended by paternal aunts of Ms Bhutto-Zardari — senior PPP leader Faryal Talpur and Sindh Health Minister Dr Azra Pechuho — and the party’s other women legislators.

“At the end of the Milad, special prayers were held for success of Ms Bhutto-Zardari’s marital life,” the statement added.

Last week, the Bilawal House had announced that Bakhtawar, the daughter of former president Asif Ali Zardari and former prime minister Benazir Bhutto, would tie the nuptial knot with Mahmood Chaudhry, the son of a US-based businessman, later his month. The engagement was held in November 2020. It said week-long functions had been planned for the marriage.

It said that the nikah would be held on January 29 and the function of baraat would take place the next day.
