LOWER DIR: The police claimed on Friday to have arrested the alleged killer of assistant sub-divisional education officer Gul Mohammad of Munda circle within six hours of the murder, and recovered a pistol and the victim’s mobile phone from him.

Briefing reporters at the Timergara police lines, SP investigations Mushtaq Ahmad Khan said Imdadullah of Walai Kandao had confessed to the crime during interrogation.

He said an unclaimed body was found in Bandagai area of Talash the other day. A brother of the slain had lodged a report in Manda police station, stating that his brother had gone to Rahimabad but did not return home at night, while his mobile phone was also switched off.

On the morning of Jan 21, the complainant said he was informed about a body having been found in Bandagai village in the jurisdiction of Talash police station.

The police said the family of the accused had migrated from Karkabanj Wari area of Upper Dir to Lower Dir.

The accused told the police that the deceased wanted to have illicit relations with him.
