LAKKI MARWAT: Deputy commissioner Abdul Haseeb here on Thursday constituted a five-member committee to probe into negligence of doctors of government city hospital for not providing timely treatment to the injured men of Wednesday’s armed attack in Lakki city.
According to an official, Awal Khan and Syed Alam, residents of Tajori, had died when their rivals attacked them in Baghban locality. He said the incident had also left a passer-by Abdul Hameed dead on the spot, while two other passers-by identified as Jehangir and Mohammad Gul had sustained bullet injuries who later succumbed to injuries in the government city hospital.
The incident sparked a protest in the urban locality. The protesters demanded arrest of the assailants and action against doctors for not providing timely treatment to the injured men.
The official said a five-member committee, including additional deputy commissioner, DSP headquarters, district health officer and two members of DRCs, had been formed to conduct an inquiry within a week. He said the deputy commissioner had also urged divisional commissioner, Bannu, to approach the health department authorities to suspend the absent medical officer Dr Zakirullah besides taking action against MS Dr Ishtiaq Khan for poor administrative control.
Meanwhile, police registered two separate cases against the alleged killers and doctors in Lakki Marwat police station. On the complaint of Ahmad Jan, the police have booked the alleged attackers, including Khalid Zaman, Hasan Khan, Noor Kamal and Asmatullah.
They have also registered a case against Dr Zakirullah and Dr Abdul Wahid Zakori under section 322 (Qatl-bis-Sabab) of PPC on the complaint of Hamayun Khan, brother of deceased Jehangir Khan.
ROAD PROJECT: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf district chapter general secretary Shafqatullah Khan along with former local government representatives inaugurated construction work on a road project in Tajori town here the other day.
The government has approved the project on the request of provincial minister Hisham Inamullah. Communication and Works Department official Inayatullah Khan said the 28km road from Serai Gambila to Tajori Sulemankhel would be built with the cost of Rs550 million.
