LAHORE: With 12 more deaths, 599 more people tested positive for the virus during the last 24 hours in Punjab.
Most of the new deaths occurred in Lahore where the total casualties reached 1,690 while in Punjab the number was 4,260.
According to the Covid-19 update released on Monday, the total number of positive cases in Punjab reached 144,909. Of them, 440 new infections were reported in Lahore, 37 in Faisalabad and 17 in Bahawalpur.
Other cases were reported in Mandi Bahauddin, Chiniot, Toba Tek Singh, Hafizabad, DG Khan, Jhang, Okara, Sahiwal, Sialkot, Sargodha, Gujrat, Chakwal, Bhakkar, Mianwali, Sheikhupura, Jhelum, Khushab, Muzaffargarh, Kasur, Vehari, Gujranwala, Nankana, Rahim Yar Khan, Rajanpur, Multan and Bahawalnagar.
A spokesperson for the health department said the Punjab government performed 13,396 tests across the province during the last 24 hours.
