PESHAWAR: An employee of a general store was killed during an armed robbery in the limits of the University Town police station late on Tuesday.

A police official said robbers managed to escape with Rs100,000, adding the incident took place at a grocery store on the Jamrud Road near Phase-III Chowk.

CCTV footage of the incident showed that two armed men entering the shop and collecting money from the main counter. In the meantime, a shop employee entered the store, and got engaged in a scuffle with one of the robbers.

They went out of the building while scuffling, where the robber is seen shooting the employee. The man identified as Abdullah succumbed to wounds while being shifted to a hospital.

The University Town police registered an FIR.
