MARDAN, Jan 20: The loudspeakers at most mosques are being used for different purposes despite the ban imposed by the government.
Besides the religious purposes, the loudspeakers of the mosques are used for announcing funeral timings and for announcements about missing children and cattle. Many religious leaders use abusive language against their rivals over the loudspeakers.
In the Mohammedkhel and Azikhel localities, there are six mosques and the people living near them and patients complain about the inconvenience caused by the use of loudspeakers.
A leader of Pakistan People’s Party said that specially during Ramazan the loudspeakers were used for the whole night.
In some areas, loudspeaker have been installed at locations away from the mosques in the markets and residential areas.
