Good news for Pakistanis heading to Turkey: Istanbul Airport ranked among top 8 in the world

It also gained the privilege of being the airport with the biggest terminal in the world to earn a 5-star rating.
15 Dec, 2020

Istanbul Airport gained top global recognition on Tuesday by being named a 5-star airport by London-based air transport rating agency Skytrax, the mega-airport said in a statement.

Rising to the top of global aviation rankings with its unique architecture, strong infrastructure, superior technology, and high-level travel experience, Istanbul Airport became one of just eight major 5-star hub Airports in the world to earn the prestige rating.

It also received recognition as a 5-Star Covid-19 Airport rating thanks to measures taken to stem the spread of coronavirus, including extensive signage and passenger guidance, numerous hand sanitization facilities, personal protective equipment (PPE) disposal points, social distancing adaptions, and a dedicated Bio-Safety Team to enforce these protocols.

Istanbul Airport is just the fourth airport in the world to receive the award after Fiumicino Airport in Rome, Hamad International Airport in Doha, Qatar, and El Dorado Airport in Bogota, Colombia.

It also gained the privilege of being the airport with the biggest terminal in the world to earn a 5-star rating.

London-based Skytrax has been providing quality audits, star grading, and quality comparison services for airports and airlines since 1989.

Kadri Samsunlu, the CEO and general manager of IGA, which runs the airport, stressed that it had established a customer-oriented culture.

"We will advance this even further, and our work in this respect is continuing apace," he added.

Skytrax CEO Edward Plaisted said Istanbul Airport is an outstanding engineering achievement with its terminal, which boasts a capacity of 90 million passengers.

"This grand airport has an impressive diversity of passenger facilities, with an ease of accessibility to different terminal areas," he added.

Turkey Erdogan rule is hitler rule no human right respected government and Erdogan seems brother of Musolini, Hitler, Kadafi, Ben Ali, Saddam Hussain and also OSAMA BEN LADEN. No world countries friend with Turkey except Pakisthan and China. India hate Turkey b'cause they are putting their nose in Indian internal affaires it's too bad for Turkey ERDOGAN.

What are the what are the Pakistanis 'crowing' about? Are they getting ready to make a mess of Turkey's beautiful airports with their unhygienic practices? Enter any PIA plane when it lands at a local airport and see the garbage accumulated all over the cabins by Pakistani travelers. Our citizens should be taught lessons in hygiene before they board a plane!!

Congratulations Turkey! The New Istanbul Airport is indeed spacious, clean, practical, has stunning architecture, and the staff are polite and courteous. As a Is Pakistani, you feel marginalized at EU hubs so this is definitely the transit airport of choice for passengers connecting to the West. And taking a few days stopover is also ideal to explore the magnificent city of Istanbul. Keep leading the way, Turkey!

Readers will be delighted to learn that 60 USD charged as Turkey entry fees , is in fact an airport tax and not a visa fees. The prove being that this 'entry fees' is not charged from road travellers entering Turkey by road. Once again, the real merchandise is the 'people' who have been sold to the private airport franchise.

Good for Turkey and Pakistanis should visit and enjoy Turkey. However, Pak should build similar things in Pak to promote local and foreign tourism, so that people from Turkey can visit Pak and see and enjoy Pak too plus Pakistanis don’t just blow all their hard earned money on Turkey only, which will benefit Turkey’s economy.

@Imran "Readers will be delighted to learn that 60 USD charged as Turkey entry fees , is in fact an airport tax and not a visa fees. The prove being that this 'entry fees' is not charged from road travelers entering Turkey by road. " But i would think the "Daria dil" turks would definitely waive this hefty fee for their beloved Pakistani friends, wouldn't you say? I'd say the most sensible and economical thing to do, would be to land in a neighboring country and drive over the border in to Turkey, especially if you are a group of people or family. Leave the admiration reveling of the expensive new airport to those who have money to burn.

Istanbul airport is truly modern, amazing, and humongous. Most of the airports in America, if not all, pale in comparison. Not sure how much money they spent Turkish people, in general, are nice. Happened to meet a Pakistani family from Karachi there and had a nice conversation eating the chestnuts they gave. Very nice country to visit. I strongly recommend compared to more expensive EU destinations.
