(EDITORIAL) It becomes increasingly clear that the trouble in Iran is part of the general pattern of the Big Three imperialist designs on Asia, with Russia making this particular country her playground. For sheer perfidy and pugnacity Russia has surpassed her other partners. She has bitten the hands that fed her in the fateful hours in her history when she was lying grievously wounded under the clicking boots of Hitler. Iran at the expense of her precious heritage of political independence had paved the way for Russian victory over Germany. In the process her internal economy had suffered... . Evidently gratitude, decency and other attributes of the civilised conscience are alien to the godless Russian “comrades”.

…Britain has a large stake in Iran in the shape of rich oil-fields which the late Raza Shah Pahlavi had dealt with in a manner not quite up to her liking. She had quietly nursed a grievance against Iran all these years. …Although [the British troops] presence in Iran has neither moral nor physical justification, especially when hostilities in Iran have long ceased, it might be said in extenuation that they have not so far interfered in the internal affairs of Iran… .
