LAKKI MARWAT: A proclaimed offender was killed in an ‘encounter’ with police in Bachkan Ahmadzai locality here on Friday.

An official said that after receiving information about movement of outlaws in the area a party of Serai Gambila police station was asked to block dirt canal road for checking.

He said a group of three outlaws noticed police presence and opened fire on them in a bid to cross the checkpoint.

He said that the police returned the fire in which a wanted man identified as Asifullah was killed. He said two accomplices of Asif managed to escape.

He said that police seized an assault rifle, magazines and bullets from the killed outlaw and shifted his body to a local hospital.

The official said Asifullah was wanted by Naurang and Bannu police in attempted murder, robbery and other cases. He said that police registered a case and have started search for fleeing criminals.

SEALED: The district administration on Friday claimed to have sealed 12 warehouses of wholesale dealers during an operation against polythene bags in Bannu.

Deputy commissioner Mohammad Zubair Niazi supervised the operation. The administration officials raided shops and warehouses and seized 180 kilogrammes polythene bags.

Mr Niazi told mediapersons that Rs81,000 fine had been collected from the violators and deposited in the government kitty.
