KARAK: The elders of Dabb village of Isak Chountra union council have demanded appointment of the sanctioned staff and rehabilitation of the area’s basic health unit.

Talking to mediapersons here on Friday, the residents, including Haji Amanullah, Ajab Khan, Raham Badshah and others, said the BHU was meant to cater to the healthcare needs of over 15,000 dwellers of the village, but the facility had long been without a medical officer.

They said the patients were often taken to the district headquarters hospital.

They said the health facility had not been provided with the sanctioned posts of staff since its establishment in 1978. The elders complained the building of the centre was in a shambles.

They said they had brought the issue into the notice of the elected representatives and the district health officer every now and then, but to no avail.

They urged the mediapersons to highlight the matter so health centre’s building could be rehabilitated and required staff appointed.
