RAWALPINDI: A 22-year-old man allegedly killed himself in Sadiqabad on Friday, police said.

Turab Qureshi, 22, a resident of Kuri Road, allegedly shot himself in his house.

According to the police, his mother and other family members rushed to his room on hearing a gunshot and found him lying on his bed with a pistol nearby. The body of the deceased was handed over to his family after postmortem.

Separately, police claimed to have arrested four suspects, including a proclaimed offender, in a murder case during an exchange of gunfire in the Airport Police area on Friday.

However, two of their accomplices managed to escape.

Police said the exchange of gunfire took place when a team comprising Elite Force, Naseerabad and Westridge police personnel conducted a raid to arrest a proclaimed offender, Qadir Khan. On seeing the police, the suspects opened fire.

The police retaliated and injured one of the suspects when he tried to escape. Besides the injured, three other suspects were arrested.
