Jibran Nasir shares how his WhatsApp got hacked with a warning for other users

"Please beware of any strange message asking for a code even if sent by a known contact."
27 Nov, 2020

The thought of anything of ours getting hacked is a scary one — and so we feel deeply for Jibran Nasir who shared that his WhatsApp has been compromised!

"My WhatsApp got hacked today and I don't have access to it anymore," he wrote on his social media.

"Few friends of mine have reported the same issue. Please beware of any strange message asking for a code even if sent by a known contact," he warned, asking his friends not to accept any messages from his WhatsApp as "a hacker is using it now".

The lawyer and activist then shared how he got hacked:

"Got a msg on WhatsApp from my cousin's number to send him a code as he mistakenly gave my number. Checked my SMS and saw I received a code from a number which has sent me notifications of different apps in the past. Thinking its genuine, I sent a code to my cousin [and] got hacked."

So pay heed to his story, people and don't accept/send any codes! Here's hoping he gets his WhatsApp back soon.

No doubt, dishonest, brutal, cunning, crooked, cruel, corrupt and criminal hackers are everywhere in the world, striving hard to get to your personal information and vital account details in order to sell them in the black market for monetary, social, financial, political and other vested interests.

Majority of hacking is done through social-engineering tactics. Jim Moriarty in the TV series, Sherlock, said the same in one of the famous episodes.

Its your mistake in the first place. You should not have shared the PIN with anyone including your relative.

Pity all the people who trusted you with confidential messages on WhatsApp. If only they knew that you could be hacked so easily!

Does PM have to meet a singer because she visited your country? I mean couldnt this elephant transfer take place without it? President Alvi also visited the elwphant. Hmmm i am thinking of so so many people who sacrificed their lives for country recently and so many other mishaps and i dont see none of them on those sites.....
