SWAT/BAJAUR: The upper parts of Swat and Bajaur districts received heavy snowfall on Wednesday, plunging the temperatures further.

The fresh spell of snowfall in the mountains and rainfall in the plains of Swat started on Sunday and continued till the evening on Wednesday.

According to the district Met office, about four feet of snowfall was recorded in Gabral, Utror, Matiltan and Kalam areas, over three feet in Malam Jabba, two feet in Gabin Jabba, Miandam, Bahrain and other regions.

The heavy snowfall blocked the link roads in the mountainous belt.

A large number of tourists from different parts of the country were seen enjoying snowfall in Kalam, Malam Jabba, Gabin Jabba and other parts.

Meanwhile, the mountains of Bajaur received heavy snowfall.

Resident of various areas told Dawn that their localities had been in the grip of intense cold following the fresh spell of rain and snowfall, which continued since Sunday evening.

The residents declared that they did not see such extreme cold weather in November. They said most people, mainly of hilly localities, have started using traditional stove to keep their rooms warm.
